Clip it off the top: club up, grip down, ball forward
The friendlier way to play a fairway bunker shot: take one more club than normal and grip down one inch, which flattens the angle from the forearm to the thumb so the wrists are less likely to hinge and you clip the ball off the top. Play the ball a little further forward in the stance and wriggle and root your feet into the sand, because it is very important not to sway. Swaying makes it easy to hit way behind the ball so it just dribbles out of the bunker.
