Alignment-stick drill for lateral shift
Craig Hanson demonstrates a drill using alignment sticks (tour sticks) jammed into the ground at about a 45 degree angle. Standing roughly a club length away with the foot lined up on the end of the grip, the goal as you move through the ball is to touch the stick, moving forwards, down and under. He says the average lateral shift they look for is around four to six inches.
