Preset 60-70% forward for the wrench drill
The wrench drill trains more consistent striking by keeping you from swaying off the ball. Set up with 60-70% of your weight over the lead leg (pre-setting the 'wrench'), draw the trail foot back a little, then pivot around that lead foot instead of swaying to the trail side. Pre-loading the lead side gives the hips a head start so they can get in front of the ball, where they need to be to strike it well.
