Pause at the top, then speed through the ball
For driving, the instructor's first priority is a consistent tempo built on a distinct pause at the top of the backswing followed by speed through the ball. She says the most common driver mistake is rushing, which removes the pause so the body has no chance to start the downswing and the arms take over. The result is very little control over the clubface, so you lose accuracy, and the body is not into it, so you lose distance.
