Let the lie choose the chip

On a tighter, firmer, downhill lie into a bank, the instructor says not to replay the previous soft shot because the lie will make it kick. He switches to a flatter release-one shot with the ball farther back so the player can hit it low with spin instead of choosing the shot his mind wants.
