An open lofted face sends the ball where you swing

The coach explains that opening the clubface does not send the ball where the face points. Unlike a putter on a flat surface, which starts the ball in the direction of the face, a lofted club lets the ball ride up the face and go in the direction you are swinging, so you can open the face without the ball shooting offline.
