Turn the hips a quarter to set, the rest to the top
To avoid over-rotating the hips early in the backswing, the coach offers a way to visualize the hip turn: the hips turn only about one-quarter of the way by the 'set position,' then the remaining three-quarters on the way to the top. Keeping the hips quieter early keeps the hands more out in front of the body and the swing shorter, using the body to move the hands to the top.
