Pour water from your lead ear to steady contact
If your contact is inconsistent because you slide off the ball in the backswing (forcing an excessive move back to it), the instructor's feel is to imagine pouring water out of your lead ear as you swing back. That makes the head pivot rather than shift, so it stays over the ball.
