Pin the heel, scrape, then extend the trail arm

Move the handle to the inside of the lead leg and deliver the heel just ahead of the inside of the ball so contact is ball first, then ground. Pin the heel to that inside quadrant and scrape roughly three to six inches; the coach says releasing pressure from the ground creates the club's natural kick. In the demonstrated release, pushing the trail arm from bent to full extension squares the face, while failing to straighten it can shut the face and dig.
