Putt instead of chip off a soggy, grainy lie

When you are just off the green on a lie that is soggy and grainy, the coach favors putting over chipping: clean contact is hard off that kind of lie, so your worst putt will finish far better than your worst chip. Choose the club that makes your bad result the least costly.
