Place the lead thumb just off top, not at 12 o'clock
The coach positions the left thumb not straight on top at 12 o'clock, as many golfers do, but just off to the side toward about one o'clock on the top side of the grip. The lifeline of the right hand then sits over that thumb, and the crease between the hands points up the inside of the lead forearm.
