Grip in base of palm and fingers to set the lever angle
The leverage in the swing is the angle between the lead arm and the club. For most golfers that angle is created by gripping the club in the base of the palm and the fingers of the lead hand. With that grip and the proper tilt, you set the angle between your lead arm and the club that you then load in the takeaway.
