Bump the trail hip to set an instep brace
The coach describes bumping the trail hip forward from neutral while keeping the hips square. He says this puts the trail knee on the inside of the foot and pressure on the instep and flat of the foot, which creates a post and brace with the spine angle perpendicular to the pelvis. From there he can turn and rotate behind it and get the pressure shift happening without lateral movement needing to take place.
