Use a hybrid like a putter from just off the green
From just off the green you can use a hybrid (or 7-wood) with a putting stroke; the clubhead design adds ball speed so the ball zips out toward the pin. Keep the wrists quiet and let the club do the work as if it were a putter, otherwise it shoots off like a missile.
