Bring several clubs to the greenside shot

The instructor walks up to a greenside shot with six or seven clubs because he does not yet know what he needs. He calls bringing just one club over and hoping it works the multiple club approach, a low-percentage mistake, since that golfer then gets stuck with that one club. Carrying several clubs keeps his shot options open.
