Lift the lead heel for more backswing depth
Hanson argues for letting the lead (left) heel come off the ground slightly in the backswing. Lifting the lead heel just a little lets you get deeper with more depth, and better tilts, turns, and depth in your pivot. He points out that many great players lifted the lead heel - Ben Hogan, Sam Snead, and modern players like McIlroy and Garcia - and estimates about 30% of modern players still do it.
