Let the arms hang to control chipping depth
For chipping, the coach sets up with the heels about a club-width apart, toe pointing out toward the target, and the triceps just resting on the chest so the arms hang straight down. He explains that bent arms let you extend and push the club's arc under the ground, so letting the arms hang naturally is a simple way to control depth (low point). He then has the student make small movements to feel the base of the club brushing the ground while keeping his chest and height stable and just letting the club swing.
