Play the putt chip: toe-down wedge with a putting stroke

For a short shot near the green, the instructor teaches a 'putt chip': take a wedge (here a 54 degree), stand it toe-down with a very high handle, use your normal putting grip, and just make a putting stroke, brushing the toe through the turf. The ball comes out with a touch of check and runs out like a putt.

Try it

  1. Go toe down with a really high handle
  2. Give yourself your putting grip
  3. Just make a putt, working the toe
  4. Brush the toe through the turf so it runs out

Why this context matters

For close pins off tight lies with little green to work with.
