Control depth to widen your margin of error

The coach explains why controlling depth (low point) matters on chips: it increases your margin of error. He demonstrates that even when he strikes the ground almost two inches behind the ball, because his depth is controlled he can still make some effort and pop the ball up onto the green. The takeaway is that controlled depth removes the fear of a fat shot ruining the strike.
