Chip a nestled lie by striking the ball first

When the ball is nestled down into an indentation, alter the basic chip so you use the front part of the club to strike the ball first with no ground interaction behind it. Move the ball from just ahead of center back to the back of your stance, then move the shaft forward so it points at your lead armpit, which puts the front edge of the club on the ground.

Try it

  1. Move the ball back to the back of your stance
  2. Put the club behind the golf ball
  3. Move the shaft so it points just at your armpit, getting the front part of the club on the ground

Why this context matters

For a ball that has nestled down into an indentation on an otherwise good lie just off the fairway.
