Adjust the drill for irons: center the ball and hit down
For irons, unlike the driver's forward ball position, move the ball more central in your stance. Whereas the driver comes in shallow and hits up (like a plane's back wheels landing first), with an iron you want to strike the ball on the way down, imagining the leading edge of the club striking down into the ground. Players who thin and fat their irons are generally catching the ground with the back edge instead.
