Take thumbs off the grip for soft, spinny chips
Gripping tight with the thumbs makes you lag and press the hands forward. Hitting shots with the thumbs off the grip - zero thumb pressure - makes the ball come off amazingly soft with tons of spin, because you hold it more in the fingers.
