Use an alignment stick as a stop-short gate
Stick a driveway marker or alignment stick in the ground at a diagonal in front of you as a DIY stop-short gate, like a coach holding a stick, so you hit it if you over-swing into a wrap-around finish. If you're struggling with contact, set it to force a very short finish; make it easier by changing the angle and moving it more upright so you can swing a little further. Reaching the stop-short position with the arms straight and the club pointing at the ground is what gives crispy contact.

- You place it in the ground at a diagonal like so.
- If you're having trouble getting quality impact, keep it at a spot where you're really going to hit it short.
- Change the angle if you want it a little bit easier.
- So you can move it upwards like this. If I change the angle, I can go a little bit further.
