Calibrate expectations: even pros miss fairways

The speaker says expectations damage club golfers. When you watch weekend golf on TV you only see the roughly 20 players scoring really well, not the players near the bottom shanking it and three-putting, so your sense of what's normal gets skewed. He points out that a really good tour player ranked 125th on the money list hit only five fairways in a round, so maybe you don't need to hit every fairway and shouldn't pile pressure on yourself, because expecting something and then not doing it sends you into a negative downturn.

Why this context matters

Reframes what a 'normal' round looks like by comparing to real tour stats rather than TV highlights.
