Find your low point by swinging back and forth over a towel
To groove landing the club ahead of the ball, make practice swings back and forth and simply pay attention to where the club is landing relative to the ball rather than trying to force a hit forward (which makes people chop down). Put a towel down on the range and look for creases, or watch for marks behind the ball line on the course; keep moving forward until you start striking the ground ahead of the ball, then carry that same feeling into a real shot.
