A putt that gets into its true forward roll quickly is more consistent, because once the ball is rolling it's out of your hands. A ball that launches up and takes a long time to start rolling introduces inconsistency in your aim point and start line, and even more so as putts break front to back. That is why matching putter loft is an important part of regulating speed control.
