Choose the easy club downwind

With firm greens and a downwind condition, the options discussed are a hard eight that turns and draws or a soft six. The chosen shot uses a six with the grip down, a shoulder-to-shoulder swing, continued turn through the shot, and an aim 15 feet right of the pin. There is potentially 15 yards too much club in the six.

Try it

  1. Put the ego aside and hit a six.
  2. Down the grip.
  3. Use shoulder to shoulder width.
  4. Keep turning through the shot.
  5. Aim right of the pin.

Why this context matters

The half set removes the exact club and forces a knockdown choice.
