Start the club on the impact plane to pre-set space
The instructor says starting with the club already on the impact plane — the same spatial relationship it will be in at impact — creates enough space for the body up front. He contrasts this with standing too close (which he associates with traditional golf), where the arms can't get in line and, with the club heavy and moving fast, the body has to 'jump' into impact to create space.
