Pick a spot four inches ahead of the ball

The coach recounts a routine he used when playing: he picks a small spot, like a single blade of grass, about four inches in front of the ball. He notes the average PGA Tour low point with a 7-iron is about four inches ahead of the ball. Even though he looks at the ball, he stays fully focused on hitting that spot, and he says the routine helped both his alignment and his contact because he was swinging to a spot.
