Swivel chair drill to feel your footwork
To feel how each foot rotates you, sit on a swivel chair (or an office chair at a dinner table) with your feet on the ground and just go right and left foot. To swivel with the right foot you feel a little pull in the glute off the heel, not a push forward, which never turns the chair. For the front foot, you feel the lead foot push forward so the left pocket can go back. It builds awareness of what each foot does independently and together to rotate the body.
