Prioritize a square putter face over forward roll

The instructor says a common mistake among fitters is chasing forward rotation and roll first, when the actual priority should be squaring the face. Because a putter has so little loft, face angle controls launch direction far more than with any other club, the way loft makes it easy to curve a three-iron but hard to curve a wedge. They call the ability to create a square face the biggest weapon in a good putter fitting.
