Into the wind, hit a solid shot not a low one
Into the wind the instructor does not try to control trajectory much; he believes a solidly struck normal shot flies better into wind than a manipulated low one. Rather than hitting a low six iron he hits a solid six iron, reasoning that compressing the ball well with the right spin flies best. Downwind with a driver he instead tries to ride the wind for extra carry.
