Slide the club wide to wide off tight lies
For a soft shot that slides the club under the ball instead of digging, the instructor keeps the face square (does not open it much), keeps grip pressure light, and does not actively set the wrists. If the grip is light the club sets and releases itself. The feel is 'wide to wide' with no divot, which uses the bounce to slide through the turf and produce a soft mid-flight.

- don't go open in the face too much just square it
- you want to feel like your grip pressure is light here
- don't feel like you've actually got to actively set the wrists
- it's just wide to wide wide to wide and that's what gets you using the bounce
Why this context matters
A soft/tight lie where you want the club to slide, not dig.
