Hold a club on your belly to hip hinge without S-curve
To feel a correct hip hinge, the instructor has students take a club they can feel the mass of, typically a three wood or hybrid, and place it against the stomach before hinging. He says if you hip hinge correctly and draw the hips back, the club stays on the core, which cues the core to stay active and lets you sit back correctly. If you lose that connection, he says you go into an S curve right away.
