Corridor landing drill for short-shot control

Craig Hanson lays out a short-game landing drill using six golf clubs to form five separate corridors, with the golf balls about five meters/yards back. In the first, easier version you try to land the ball inside the first corridor; once you land in it you progress to the second, third, fourth, and fifth corridors, even if it takes five balls, then work your way back through them. He says it may look easy but is very tricky, and is good for visual control on short shots.

Try it

  1. six golf clubs, five separate corridors; golf balls about five meters five yards back
  2. try to land the ball inside the first corridor
  3. when your ball lands in the corridor, try and hit it in the second corridor
  4. even if that takes five golf balls, go into the third, into the fourth, into the fifth
  5. then work your way back until you've finished the exercise

Why this context matters

The first, easier of two exercises using the same corridor setup.
