Pick a landing spot, don't think about swing length

For short shots, Craig Hanson stresses picking the spot where you want to land the ball and focusing on that spot with your eyes rather than thinking about how far to swing. He calls it a visual thing and gives landing distances like eight, ten, or twelve yards as examples of judging the spot by sight.
