Estimate wind: 1 mph equals 1 yard

As a rough ballpark guide for club selection into the wind, the instructor adds about one yard of playing distance for every one mph of wind. In a roughly 30 mph wind that adds about 30 yards, making the shot play around 210. He is explicit that it is a very rough guide, not a precise formula.
