Flare your lead foot to 11 o'clock to clear through the chip

If the lead foot points straight or turns in, the hip feels sticky and is difficult to open through the ball. For a chip-and-run, flare the lead foot to about 11 o'clock. This helps put more weight on the left side and places the hip in external rotation, making it easier to clear through the ball.
