Get steeper out of the rough with a wider stance
To pop the ball cleanly out of greenside rough you need to get steeper, not shallow. The instructor's method: widen your stance so you can lean more onto your front side, add a bit of shaft lean, and move your hands down the grip. This sets the club earlier and more aggressively upward in the backswing so you come down steeper and pop the ball out.
