Set up for a chip when the ball is below your feet
For a chip where the ball sits below your feet, the instructor sets up by gripping up on the club to lengthen it so you don't thin the shot, taking a wide, open stance, and aiming a little left to guard against a right miss (she opens about 10 degrees versus a normal five). The ball goes in the middle or slightly back, with about 60% of weight in the front foot. Her most important point: set up low and keep that low position until impact.
