Make your last look your target, not the flag
Athletes respond to whatever they last looked at, so your last look must be at your actual target, not the flag or the hole. On an approach to a sucker pin, if your target is 15 steps left of the flag, pick and look at that spot; looking back at the flag is where double-crosses happen. On a breaking putt, aim at your break point (for example six inches left) and let your last look be there, because if your last look goes to the hole you'll likely push it.

Rotella cites Bobby Locke, whom he caddied for, aiming at his break point and letting the green feed the ball into the hole.
