Drill: drop right foot back onto the toe for chips
An anti-thin chip drill the instructor uses for good feedback: get into the left side, drop the right foot back behind you and up onto the toe, standing fairly wide. This forces all the weight firmly onto the left side (his 'pivot line'), fixing the common cause of thinning - swaying weight side to side and leaving too much weight on the right side at impact.
