Drop the handle to toe the ball out of a divot
When the ball sits down in a divot or tight hole, the normal handle position leaves a gap between the leading edge and the ball that makes it easy to thin. The instructor drops the handle so the toe of the club sits under the ball, getting under a ball sitting lower than usual.
