De-lofting opens the driver face, adding loft shuts it
On a driver, de-lofting (lowering the loft) tends to leave the face a little more open, while adding loft tends to make the face more shut. The coach cautions that if you are hitting it high and lower the loft to bring the flight down, you might end up hitting it more to the right.
