Chip on a Ferris-wheel arc instead of a roundabout
For chipping, bring the club down on a Ferris-wheel-like arc at roughly 75 to 80 degrees rather than on a roundabout path. The roundabout path moves the club away from the body and brings the hosel and shank into play; it can also catch rough for fat contact, while thin contact can occur as well.
