Mentally, the instructor advises not getting obsessed with whether the putt goes in, which makes golfers tighten up and get tense from focusing on the hole. Instead he defines his job as starting the ball on the right line at the right pace; if he does that, he has done his job, and a miss becomes something to learn from.
