Squeeze the sand, don't splash, from compact wet bunkers
When rain has compacted the bunker sand, you cannot splash the sand under the ball - it is not loose enough, and trying to splash risks bouncing the club and thinning the ball across the green. Instead squeeze the sand under the ball by getting steeper: use a 60 with less bounce and a shaved-down cambered sole to help it dig, play the ball back so the shaft line points at your left heel and the ball sits in the middle of your stance, then pick the club up with your hands and arms, work it down, and keep a short finish.
